CONNECTIONS Site to city, public to private, above to below ground, student to teacher, program to structure, light to dark. Every physical and intangible connection was examined in an effort to design a building that utilized a small city lot for demanding and diverse program requirements. In a city layered with rich texture in materials, light, inhabitants, and movement, my design sought to embrace the existing infrastructure while offering its own unique thread in the urban fabric. Light studies, circulation diagrams and material investigations led to a still-evolving dialogue between the building and the surrounding cityscape.
